Parliament speaker discusses with Head of OSCE Mission to Moldova

Chisinau, 08 August /MOLDPRES/ – Speaker of Parliament, Andrian Candu, met with Ambassador Michael Scanlan at the end of his mandate as Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The talks referred to the progress achieved in 2018 in the Transnistrian conflict settlement process, reflected by implementation in 2018 of a number of priority agreements.
The SP reconfirmed the willingness of authorities to promote further the direct dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol, as well as support population and economic agents in Transnistrian region.
In response, the Head of Mission appreciated the involvement of the Moldovan authorities which led to implementation of agreements signed in November 2017 and April 2018. Ambassador Scanlan expressed his conviction that the progress achieved would be extended to other spheres of regulatory process, such as freedom of movement and security issues. Moldova sent a strong signal to the international community that prolonged conflicts can be resolved through direct involvement and negotiations between parties, said the head of the OSCE Mission.
