Euro cheapens by MDL 0,21 decreasing below MDL 19

Chisinau, 10 August /MOLDPRES/ – The European single currency (ESC) (€) cheapens even more and gets below MDL 19. For Monday, 13 August, the National Bank of Moldova (BNM) has set an official exchange rate of MDL 18,90 for €01, with MDL 0,21 less than today.

The ESC had recently a value of less than MDL 19 in April 2015.

The USD ($) will keep its price of MDL 16,48.

On the other hand, the Romanian leu (RON) will lose MDL 0,05 of the price and costing MDL 04,06. The Ukrainian hryvnia (UAH) and Russian rouble (RUR) will have similar value at the beginning of upcoming week as today. Thus, UAH will cost MDL 0,60, and RUR – MDL 0,24.

Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, Sergiu Cioclea, said in an interview that the tendency to appreciate the national currency is largely explained by the fact that the supply of foreign currency by individuals continues to exceed the demand from economic agents, which largely explains appreciation of MDL.
