Chisinau, 13 August /MOLDPRES/ – A delegation from the Northern Development Region of Moldova has recently paid a study visit to Pärnu (Estonia), part of a joint tourism promotion project.

The delegation included representatives of local public authorities (APL), non-governmental organisations (NGOs), entrepreneurs and craftsmen from Northern Region. The visit programme was focused on a project implemented by Northern Regional Development Agency (ADR Nord) in partnership with Tartu Pärnu College in Estonia and the State University of Moldova (USM).

The specialists from Moldova visited more tourist attractions in Pärnu region, where they had opportunity to study the experience of NGOs and local entrepreneurs working in the field of tourism. The members of delegation also met with representatives of Estonian Tartu Pärnu College, which provided relevant info on organisation and promotion of Estonian festivals as well as involvement of local entrepreneurs in their setting. Also, the Moldovan northern delegation took a trip on tourist route Tolksue bog, which includes several points of interest, attended Lamb Festival in Uulu and Viljandi Folk Music Festival, visited several museums and holiday houses.

"The study visit to Estonia was an important opportunity for ADR Nord to share experience, see examples of good practice in organising and conducting various rural events. The lessons learnt and accumulated practices will enable our colleagues to plan and hold local events correctly. ADR Nord can take advantage of Estonian experience of how to set festivals, which will contribute to development of regional tourism," said sources of ADR Nord.

Travelling to Estonia is part of project "Empowering women and young people by increasing their skills and competences in the field of rural events design and hospitality services." The programme has a budget of over €45,000 and funds are provided by the Estonian partners. The period of project implementation is August 2017 – January 2019.
