International Fund for Agricultural Development to provide Moldova with 40 million dollars for investment projects in agriculture

Chisinau, 17 September /MOLDPRES/ - The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) has approved a new 40-million-dollar-worth programme of strategic opportunities for Moldova for the 2019-2024 years. The decision was adopted following a request by Moldova’s Ambassador to Italy Stela Stingaci at the 124th session of the IFAD Executive Board.    

The IFAD Board has approved the new Programme, which provides for the financing worth 40 million dollars of investment projects in agriculture, with emphasis put on innovations, involvement of young people, enhancing the resistance to climate changes, reduction of poverty in the rural environment, the press service of the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry has reported.   

Since the beginning of its work in Moldova in 1999, IFAD has backed seven important programmes amounting to more than 120 million dollars, from which about 135,000 people of rural regions benefited. Moldova is among the first ten states in terms of implementation of IFAD projects out of those 113 beneficiary states.
