Chinese company set to invest in assembling electric buses in Moldova

Chisinau, 25 September /MOLDPRES/ - The Chinese company ZTE has informed about its intention to invest in the opening of a factory for assembling electric buses in Moldova. The company’s representatives today made statements to this effect at a meeting with Prime Minister Pavel Filip, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.      

„The visit by any potential investor is happiness for us. But when some of them rule to start a business in Moldova, the happiness is double for us,” the PM said.  

The prime minister urged the investors to have a permanent dialogue with the secretariat of the Economic Council under the Prime Minister, which is a linking bridge between the cabinet and the business environment.  

Also, Pavel Filip encouraged the company to invest in Free Economic Zones (FEZ), as well as in the virtual IT Park, which ensure friendly conditions for entrepreneurs. An advantage is also the fact that Moldova has free trade regime with EU, countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States and Turkey. Presently, a similar agreement is negotiated with China as well.    

The prime minister reconfirmed openness and support of the government for large-scale investment projects: “We are open for investors. You can appeal with any problem, so as we quickly find the best solutions.”   

To give a constructive beginning to the discussions, the PM instructed to set up a ministerial working group, with the participation of the company’s representatives, in order to work out a memorandum. The stages due to be undertaken for carrying out the investment project are to be established in this document.

The representatives of the company ZTE Corporation appreciated the constructive dialogue and openness of the cabinet to solve problems of business people.   

The company ZTE Corporation is a stock company, in which the government of China holds more than 50 per cent of the block of stocks and the rest of the shareholders are private. In 2016, the company’s turnover stood at 1.7 billion dollars. ZTE has businesses in about 160 countries and more than 80,000 employees.
