Chisinau, 29 September /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldsilva Forestry Agency has informed that the season for hunting wild boars was opened on the period 29 September – 31 December.

Under a cabinet decision, on this period, the hunting will take place in leased sectors on the purpose of hunting management, where a number of 155 animals are proposed for harvesting. The numerical regulation (through shooting) will be carried out in the fund of area protected by state, with the limit of harvesting wild boars in these areas being of 360 animals. Later on, starting from 3 November till 30 December, the hunting season will be opened in the forest fund managed by the Moldsilva Agency, with a number of 623 wild boars established.

This year, the overall limit of harvesting wild boars is 1,138 animals. This number, increased against the year before, is set as a result of the need to prevent the spread of the African swine fever through wild boars, to prevent the destruction of agricultural crops, etc.

According to an order by the Moldsilva Agency, in the foreign fund managed by this institution, the hunting will be carried out on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays and on the leased hunting sectors – throughout the year.

A veterinary physician of the territorial subdivisions of the National Food Safety Agency (ANSA) will be compulsorily present at hunting actions. The physician will monitor the observance of the bio-security requirements in the hunting process and will collect samples for the swine fever.

The hunting in the border zone up to a limit of 100 metres far from the state border line to the inside is allowed only during the day, based on a notification issued for all persons participating in hunting by the Border Police Sector, including for persons with permanent residence in the frontier zone or in the settlements the borders of which are in the frontier zone. The term of considering the application of notification is up to five days.

On the period of the hunting season, the Moldsilva Agency created mobile control teams for patrolling the forest fund. At the same time, the institution’s management urges the residents to call the hotline (022 211-311), if cases of poaching or other suspect situations in wood are discovered.
