Special commission to assess consequences of blast in block of flats from Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 9 October /MOLDPRES/ - A special commission will assess the consequences of a blast which took place in a block of flats in the Rascani district from Chisinau three days ago.

According to the Chisinau city hall, the commission will verify the dwellings hit and will evaluate the damages inflicted to the owners.

At the same time, special commissions will be set up at praetor’s offices, which will consider cases of illegal use of liquid gas cylinders in the blocks of flats from Moldova’s capital. The commissions will be made up of representatives of the concerned district’s praetor’s office, of the housing, utility and arrangement general department, Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service, General Police Inspectorate and Agency for Technical Supervision. The decisions were taken at a today’s meeting of the commission for emergency situations of the Chisinau city, summoned by the acting general mayor of Chisinau, Ruslan Codreanu.  

Also, economic agents will be additionally informed about the ban of the unauthorized use of liquid gas cylinders in the activity of trade and providing services. The strolling trade units placed in the public areas of the city, which illegally use liquid gas cylinders, will be evacuated by the praetor’s offices. Also, starting from last Sunday, citizens have made more than 200 calls to the central municipal control room, notifying about cases of illicit use of liquid gas cylinders.       

Four persons died in the wake of an explosion which occurred in a block of flats in the Rascani district of Chisinau. At the same time, according to data by the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry, two persons are still hospitalized at the Emergency Medicine Institute, who benefit from medical treatment and the fireman who suffered in the wake of the blast will be transferred to the hospital of the Interior Ministry for rehabilitation. He is out of any danger. Also, a person with post-stress reactions is put in the Sfanta Treime (Holy trinity) Municipal Clinic Hospital, whose condition is satisfactory.   

Six flats were damaged in all. All residents of those 120 flats of the block were evacuated. At present, 18 persons are accommodated in one of the Chisinau-based hospitals. Authorities said that all people hit by the explosion would receive sets of footwear, food and hygiene goods. Also, the government provided financial assistance to the families of the deceased, amounting to 50,000 lei and the Chisinau city hall allocated ten million lei for the repair of the dwellings and the need to buy new ones.
