The ministry will make controls in areas along with representatives of local authorities, Interior Ministry and Inspection for Environmental Protection.

“Persons burning leaves and household waste will pay fines, according to the Contravention Code. Under the law, private people are sanctioned with fine worth from 600 lei up to 1,200 lei and or with unremunerated labour for the good of the community of up to 60 hours. Among them, there are the carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, soot, nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons and dioxins – the most toxic and dangerous organic compounds of complex composition.

These chemical substances may cause, even in small quantities, intoxications of the respiratory ways, diseases of the central nervous system, eye’s membrane, penetrating the atmosphere, soil and surface waters. In the context, especially elderly people, those suffering from cardiovascular diseases or respiratory allergies are warned to be cautious.
