Exhibition dedicated to 100th anniversary of Poland's Independence inaugurated at National Library of Moldova

Chisinau, 22 October /MOLDPRES/ - The National Library (BNRM), in partnership with the Embassy of Poland in Moldova, today inaugurated an exhibition and event titled, The Centenary of Regaining of Poland’s Independence, 1918-2018.   

The event was part of a schedule of an international scientific conference titled,  Polish-Moldovan Relations at Centenary of Regaining of Independence by Poland, held by the Embassy of Poland in Chisinau and the National History Museum of Moldova on the same day.

In her speech, the director of the National Library, Elena Pintilei, said that the exhibition comprised more than 200 books, albums from the BNRM collection, which show the historic past, present political situation and the diplomacy of Poland.  

”Documents about the Moldovan-Polish relations from the last 26 years occupy a special place at the exhibition. A special chapter is dedicated to Polish writers who have anniversaries this year, such as the great poet Adam Mickiewicz (220th birthday anniversary), poet Wislawa Szymborska, Nobel Prize laureate, 1996 (95th birthday anniversary) a stand dedicated to the personality of Pope John Paul the Second (Karol Wojtyła, 1978-2005) and the 40th anniversary of his enthronization,” Pintilei noted.    

Attending the event, Ambassador of Poland to Moldova Bartlomiej Zdaniuk thanked the host institution for the inauguration of this exhibition. “The fact that such an exhibition is inaugurated at the National Library shows that Poland is appreciated in your country. The fact that a scientific conference dedicated to Poland is held in Chisinau, that there is a street in this city bearing the name of Lech Kaczynski proves that we have a friendly country. We want to assure you that we love you as well and we will move forward together,” Bartlomiej Zdaniuk said.  

The exhibition will be opened till 22 November.
