Chisinau, 7 November /MOLDPRES/ - The electoral agitation at the headquarters of the polling station or in the area of 100 far from the voting place, made on the election day, might be banned. The parliament’s juridical commission for rules and immunities today considered a draft law providing for the amendment of the electoral legislation.

The legislative initiative belongs to a group of MPs and was worked out following recommendations by the juridical commission for rules and immunities. On 31 October this year, this commission approved a report on the analysis, expertise and assessment of the electoral legislation, which stayed at the basis of the invalidation of the new local polls in Chisinau.

The authors suggest amendment of the Article 52 of the Electoral Code, according to which the silence day is excluded. At the same time, on the election day, no electoral agitation is allowed at the headquarters of the polling station or in the area of 100 metres far from the voting place.

At the same time, the new regulations see that, on the voting day, people making electoral agitation at the headquarters of polling stations or in the area of 100 metres far from the voting place will be sanctioned with fines worth from 300 lei to 600 lei. The fines will vary from 1,200 to 1,500 lei for decision-makers or electoral candidates.

The draft is to be discussed and voted at a parliament’s plenary meeting.
