Engineering college inaugurated in Moldova's centre city

Chisinau, 18 November /MOLDPRES/ – The enthusiasts of engineering will be able to study at the Engineering College in Straseni city. Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, said on his inauguration that education, engineering, business and youth are very important things and are the engines of Moldova's development, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

"We are living in the informational age, it is not happening what was in the industrial or agricultural age and, from this point of view, we place a great emphasis on education. We want to transform this area. It is very important to rethink this system. We have to prepare specialists that are needed in the labour market," said Pavel Filip.

The college is a part of Free Economic Zone (ZEL) Balti, Straseni sub – area, and curriculum is based on the model of Germany. Also, the college's dual programme offers students the opportunity to be trained both theoretically and practically within the partner institutions of institution. In addition to internships, the economic agents similarly offer pupil allowances. The college is also equipped with modern study rooms, interactive tables, state – of – the – art engineering equipment. At the same time, it has a hostel with 44 seats.

Pavel Filip has emphasised that training of quality specialists will diminish the problem of labour shortages in large companies. "It is our dream to move from investment to work, to investment in grey matter. I mean not just prepare people to assemble the car components, but take a step further: talk about mechanical engineering, software, R&D and IT," said PM.

Altogether, more than 46 thousand pupils are studying in vocational – technical education institutions in Moldova.
