Chisinau, 21 November /MOLDPRES/ - The bilateral and transit transports of goods between Moldova and Turkey will be made without transport authorizations. The cabinet of ministers, at a today’s meeting, approved the amendments to the agreement on international road transport, signed on 3 June 1994. The agreement between the governments of both countries on the amendment of the document signed 24 years ago was signed in Chisinau on 17 October 2018.

„The liberalization of bilateral and transit transports will allow enhancing the competitiveness of road transport operators regionally and will allow reducing the administrative burden, including cutting the operational costs; this will simplify the transport operations,” the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry said.

Moldovan transport operators annually face a deficit of Turkish authorizations for carrying goods, in the conditions of a substantial flow of Moldovan goods carried to the Eastern Europe. Thus, Moldovan companies often have no possibility to fulfill their commitments of transporting goods, in line with the contracts signed.

The agreement enters into force on the date of reception, through diplomatic channels, of the last written notification on the fulfillment by the contracting sides of the domestic procedures needed for the accord’s entrance into force.

Data by the National Statistics Bureau (BNS) shows that Moldova’s exports to Turkey in 2017 grew 1.7-fold up to 104 million dollars, while the imports increased by 12 per cent up to 303 million dollars.
