Chisinau, 4 December /MOLDPRES/- Three people needed medical care during weekend, after having suffered hypothermia from the cold outside.

Spokesperson of the National Pre-hospital Emergency Medical Center Diana Blănaru said that the doctors were asked to help two people from Orhei and Comrat who consumed alcoholic beverages and underwent first-degree hypothermia."At the same time, specialists were also requested in the Cantemir district. Here, a 70-year-old man suffered second-degree hypothermia at home. All patients received emergency medical care and were taken to hospital ", Blanaru said.

Cristina Gorea, spokeswoman for the Emergency Medicine Institute, said that early winter, three people arrived at the medical institution with hypothermia. "One of the cases was worse, and the patient was hospitalized to receive specialized medical care. Most often, homeless people are addressing with hypothermia, " Gorea said.

In the cold season, homeless people can benefit from shelter and hot meals at the hosting center for homeless. Centre’s deputy head Natalia Leu said that 75 people are accommodated at the centre.

 The capacity of the center is 100 people. On 1 November-31 March, the institution provides hosting services to beneficiaries in non-stop. At the same time, people can contact the social workers of the center at the following telephone numbers: 022-354-038 or 022-354-039. Also, the municipal authorities urge the inhabitants of Chisinau to call the 112 service, when they see people freezing and need care in the streets.

According to the State Hydrometeorological Service, the weather is cooling slightly in the coming days. The air temperature will reach -6 degrees at night in the north and +3 degrees during the day in the south. Snowfall is expected in the centre and north of the country.
