Grant Programme for youth organizations 2019 launched today

Chisinau, 19 December /MOLDPRES/- The Ministry of Education, Culture and Research today launched the 2019 Grant Programme for youth organizations, which aims to support and develop the youth sector in Moldova. The programme budget is 7 million lei.

Today Minister of Education, Culture and Research Monica Babuc said that the programme provides logistic and financial support for implementing youth initiatives and projects with impact at regional and national level, thus strengthening the cooperation with the civil society. At the same time, the official noted that the programme ensures the creation of opportunities for participation and multilateral development of Moldovan youth, supporting their active participation in the economic, social and cultural life of the country.

According to Babuc, only non-profit organizations where young people make up two-thirds of the membership and the composition of the governing bodies can participate in the competition, and their statutory goals are aimed at developing the personality of young people and their integration into public life. Youth organizations with co-funding, partnership agreements from different institutions and local and international donors are encouraged to submit projects and may justify their own contribution of at least 20 percent of the total project value.

Within the programme, the projects that will contribute to the implementation of the National Youth Development Strategy 2020 action plan will be supported based on four priorities: youth participation, youth services, economic opportunities for young people and youth sector consolidation.

Projects defining the criteria for applying for funding will be assessed by the examination commission,  and following approval of the commission, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research will conclude a financing agreement with the applicant, in accordance with the provisions of the frame-regulation on organisation and implementation of the youth grant programme and national/local project contest for youth initiative groups.

 For the projects due to be implemented at local / regional level, the amount varies from 70,000 lei to 200,000 lei, and for those that will be made at national / international level, the minimum amount may be 100,000 lei up to 350,000 lei.

Documents can be submitted by 22 January 2019.

In 2018, 23 projects were funded.
