Moldovan PM hands flats' keys to 335 families of servicemen

Chisinau, 27 December /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 335 families will spend their winter holidays in new job dwellings. Prime Minister Pavel Filip handed the keys to the apartments to the military today. The PM said that he had visited the building’s construction site in last November. At that time, he received assurances that the dwellings would be ready till late 2018. “May you enjoy the new flats just on the eve of the holidays. At home means, first of all, our family; yet, at home means also the dwelling where this family gathers,” Pavel Filip said, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.   

The prime minister said that the social side, the protection of servicemen and their families, remained a priority for the cabinet. In the context, the PM referred to social projects launched including for military. Presently, over 100 of them benefit from monthly allowances for leasing dwellings; more families of military have benefited from the First Home project and another 111 families already live in job flats. At the same time, another 600 dwellings are schedule to be constructed for  servicemen in the next years.  

„From the very beginning, I said that we would come up with pragmatic approaches and concrete things. We have the programme Professionalization of the National Army 2018-2021 and we are to edify a professional army in Moldova. Yet, we cannot speak about a strong army, if officers on duty have to take care of children to make them study and to nourish them in time and think about what their family members are doing at home. We want the military know that the family is at a peaceful and warm place at home,” the prime minister added.

The block of flats for the servicemen was constructed within a public-private partnership with the Defence Ministry. The dwellings are provided to military in turn-key ready variant. The dwellings are endowed with sanitary equipment, autonomous heating system and gas stove range.
