Moldovan National Patrol Inspectorate warns drivers about possible difficult road traffic because of snow

Chisinau, 6 January /MOLDPRES/ - The traffic on Moldova’s roads can turn more difficult because of the latest snow. The warning comes from the National Patrol Inspectorate (INP). The institution said that transport means had been moving as normal today morning; yet, because of the snow, the state of roads can change sharply.

In these conditions, law-enforcers made more recommendations for drivers setting out. The latter are urged to show prudence in traffic, to observe the road traffic rules and adapt the speed to the road conditions. At the same time, if the roadway is wet or covered with snow, drivers should move with a speed allowing them to stop safely, taking into account that, in such conditions, the braking distance is much larger.

Drivers are also urged not to carry out risky manoeuvres, to use the lights also during the day and not to brake if the vehicle starts skidding. Policemen also warn that vehicles must be endowed with antiskid chains, shovel, scraper and a bag with sand.

INP specified that, currently, patrol crews were present on roads from all over Moldova and were working in enhanced regime for citizens’ safety.

Persons who are at risk and need help can ask for the support of the nearest patrol crew or may call 112.

Snowfall is expected throughout the country on the days to come, according to the State Hydrometeorological Service.
