All roads accessible in Moldova

Chisinau, 13 January /MOLDPRES/ - All roads are accessible in Moldova and roadmen continue works of removing snow and widening the roadway.

The head of the operative service of the State Administration of Roads, Sergiu Capatina, has told MOLDPRES that no precipitation was recorded during the last night and workers continued activities of patrol and combating the glazed frost.  

„Ninety one special vehicles and 119 workers intervened in all. Roadmen used more than 651 tons and antiskid material. Presently, the traffic takes place in winter conditions on Moldova’s roads. There are no blockages. At the same time, the dangerous segments are permanently monitored by roads’ managers and they intervene, if necessary,’’ Capatina noted.  

Contacted by MOLDPRES, the press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), Liliana Puscasu, said that, in the last 24 hours, rescuers had intervened in three situations to de-block transports means.

„Rescuers were demanded in two cases to de-block lorries which remained stuck in snow nearby the villages of Talmaza and Purcari, south-eastern Stefan Voda district. At the same time, on 12 January evening, IGSU employees towed a mini-bus which skid on road nearby the town of Ceadar-Lunga, Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia. Twenty seven special technology units and 108 rescuers got involved in intervention works. The crisis cell working at the Inspectorate will further monitor the situation in Moldova. In emergency situations, citizens are asked to call the 112 Single Service,’’ Puscasu added.    

National Army servicemen also participated in works of de-blocking and removing snow on national roads. At the same time, they intervened with special machines in de-blocking transport means. At present, another 373 military, with 24 special vehicles, are prepared to act to remove snow in settlements and national roads.  

Also, electric energy providers reported that there were no disconnections from power supply.

The Border Police said that all crossing points were working as normal. At the same time, according to the official site of the Chisinau International Airport, there are no delays or cancellations of flights today.

In continuation, authorities urge drivers to move with low speed both in settlements and outside them, to keep a larger distance between vehicles, so that they manage the manoeuvre of braking and to avoid parking vehicles nearby trees.  

Cold weather will maintain on the days to come. At night, the air temperature will drop to -11 Celsius degrees in northern Moldova and up to +3 degrees will be recorded in the southern region during the day. Snowfall is expected in places.
