Belarus to provide support for restoration of bypass road of south Moldova town, segment of Chisinau belt road

Chisinau, 14 January /MOLDPRES/ – The bypass of Vulcanesti town and part of Chisinau belt – road will be rehabilitated with the support of Belarus. It was signed a Memorandum on it today in Chisinau between the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure (MEI) of Moldova and a company from Belarus.

According to the MEI’s information and media communication service, the first part of the road to be restored is M1 – border of Romania – Leuseni - Chisinau – Dubasari – (km 94 – km 103). This section is part of Chisinau's bypass. According to the project, it will be constructed three new intersections at different levels and the road will have four lanes and not two as now.

The second road section targeted is the bypass of Vulcanesti town. The project envisages the construction of a new road to ensure unimpeded traffic in the direction of Chisinau – Giurgiulesti.

Also, it will be elaborated the technical project for rehabilitation of the M1 road, the section from Chisinau to Leuseni. It is part of the trans – European transport network and is one of the main Western routes connecting Moldova to EU.

According to Minister Chiril Gaburici, Moldova is interested in developing and diversifying financing projects for rehabilitation, modernisation and extension of the national road network, in order to improve the traffic conditions and safety, as well as development of economy as a whole.

Belarusian general manager, Iurii Masiuk, reiterated his willingness and desire to implement joint road rehabilitation and road construction and road infrastructure projects in Moldova, such as the possibility of developing the Trans – European Transport Network. "I want these joint projects that we have initiated to bring new opportunities for the citizens of both countries. The infrastructure means growth and development," said Iurii Masiuk.

The programme funding is stipulated throughout a loan from the Development Bank of Belarus (BDRB). The cost of the contracts, the amount and terms of the loan will be determined as a result of the technical and financial negotiations.
