National campaign for promotion of reading, 2019 issue, starts in Moldova

Chisinau, 30 January /MOLDPRES/ - The eighth issue of the national campaign for the promotion of reading, Let Us Read Together!, was launched at the Ion Creanga National Library for Children from Chisinau today. The 2019 year issue is dedicated to the books Rebela (The Rebellious Girl) by Claudia Partole and Poeme pe trepte încinse (Poems on Hot Steps) by Ianos Turcanu.   

Contacted by MOLDPRES, the deputy director of the aforementioned library, Eugenia Bejan, has said that the goal of the campaign was to promote reading in Moldova’s cities, towns and villages. “The two titles were selected by the library from the list of volumes which appeared in 2018 within the programme on editing national books, backed by the Education, Culture and Research Ministry. The criterion of selection was as follows: the authors should be well-known and are to get actively involved in the promotion of reading. We are set to reach as many settlements as possible, so that we have not less than three-four meetings with reading each month,” Bejan noted.     

Poet Ianos Turcanu said the volume Poeme pe trepte încinse comprised a selection of poems for children and adults.”I am looking forward to meeting readers, who inspire us and makes us write for them in continuation,” Ianos Turcanu specified.    

Writer Claudia Partole stressed that Rebela was a book about a teenager girl, who starts her life believing that one can conquer the heights only if he/she is armed with everything and has aggressive attitude towards everything you are facing and which you do not understand. “Eventually, she is aware that the winning forces are inside each of us, i.e. in her own being and that she should not fight with anybody, should not aggress and should not be angry with anybody, in order to see the true face of things and the life. In this book, I try to answer more questions of the teenagers,” Claudia Partole said.     

The campaign will take place all over Moldova on the period January – December 2019 and will involve children, teenagers, as well as adults (parents, grandparents, teachers, librarians). The books recommended were distributed to territorial public libraries through the office National Reserve of Publications of the National Library.   

The territorial public libraries, in cooperation with the school ones, during 2019 will organize the promotion and reading of recommended books through diverse activity forms: public readings, commented readings, recitals of poems, meetings with authors, discussions, conferences, theatrical actions, creation contests inspired from the reading of the concerned books, etc.   

In 2018, the campaign for the promotion of reading, Let Us Read Together!, was dedicated to the books  Lumina glasului lăuntric (Light of Inner Voice) by Vasile Romanciuc and Îngerii dispar în ploaie (Angels Disappears in Rain) by Aurelian Silvestru.
