Moldova IT Park has 346 residents, incomes worth two billion lei after one year of work

Chisinau, 5 February /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 346 native and foreign companies in the information technologies sector in 2018 joined the first IT Park from Moldova, set up at an initiative by Prime Minister Pavel Filip. According to preliminary results, last year, the incomes from sales stood at almost two billion lei, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

„The IT field is a promising one for Moldova. Being a small country, we should not produce only labour force, we must train specialists for industries with high value added,” Pavel Filip said.

In the first year of work, more than 6,600 people were employed at companies from Moldova IT Park. Their average salary reaches almost 26,000 lei. On this period, the exports of residents increased up to 600 million lei in the fourth quarter of work and the number of companies with foreign capital reached 96.   

Moldova IT Park further remains an attractive platform for residents. Among the facilities provided, there is the payment of a single tax worth seven per cent of the income from sales, as well as the removal of bureaucratic obstacles. Also, the park offers a virtual regime of work – its residents can carry out their activity and benefit from the facilities provided just from their own offices or residences, after a preliminary registration.  

The first IT Park from Moldova started working on 1 January 2018, being created for a ten-year term. On this period, the number of the park’s residents is to reach about 500 IT companies. Among the goals set, there are the attraction of local and foreign investments, creation of new jobs, piloting of new services and hence, the boosting of the information technology’s industry.
