Museum house to be switched to administration of Moldova's Education, Culture and Research Ministry

Chisinau, 11 February /MOLDPRES/ - The museum and house Alexandru Donici will be switched to the administration of the Education, Culture and Research Ministry (MECC) and will become a branch of the Mihail Kogalniceanu National Literature Museum. The cabinet approved a decision to this end today.    

According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the museum has an exhibition potential of local and national importance and the decision was taken to turn to good account the cultural and scientific heritage, as well as to restore the museum. The museum’s work will be ensured by MECC, which will bear including the staff expenses. About 300,000 lei was earmarked from the state budget to pay salaries to the museum’s staff for 2019.    

The Alexandru Donici museum and house has its headquarters in the mansion which belonged to the family of the fable writer Alecu Donici. The museum has a fund made up of works of fine art, painting, graphic, drawing, decorative art, facsimiles of relevant documents about the life and work of the Donici family, ethnographic pieces and furniture objects. About 18,000 people visit the museum annually.
