Festival dedicated to Romanian writer to take place in Moldova, Romania

Chisinau, 26 February /MOLDPRES/ – The 9th issue of Festival Zilele Creanga, which will be held until 04 March in Chisinau, Iasi, Targu – Neamt and Pipirig, will begin 27 February in the capital of Moldova. The events of Festival Zilele Creanga will take place on 27 – 28 February in Chisinau municipality.

Interviewed by agency, the deputy director of the National Library for Children Ion Creanga, Eugenia Bejan, festival coordinator in Moldova, has mentioned that the event will start 27 February, at 09:00, by laying flowers at the bust of Ion Creanga from the Alley of Classics of the Romanian Literature from the Stefan cel Mare si Sfant Public Garden. Then it will continue at 10:00 at the Ion Creanga National Library for Children (str. A. Sciusev, 65), where it will be held conference: 15 years of promotion of the Bassarabian writers by means of the Iasi radio studio programme: Convorbiri literare. The writers, participants of conference, will hold a recital of verses and prose fragments dedicated to the Humulesti storyteller. On the same day, at 13:00, the Ion Creanga Theoretical High School in Chisinau will host the Gala Laureates of the school festival Ion Creanga cu neamuri.  

On Thursday, 28 February, at the Romanian Philology Institute B. P. Hasdeu of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (ASM), it will be held the works of symposium: Ion Creanga – bucuria memoriei, presenting researchers and writers from Moldova and Romania.

The programme is organised by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC) of Moldova, National Section of Moldova of the International Council of the Children and Youth Card (IBBY), National Library for Children Ion Creanga, IPNA Teleradio – Moldova, Institute of Romanian Philology B. P. Hasdeu of ASM, Moldovan Writers' Union (USM), lyceum Ion Creanga in Chisinau, City Halls of Iasi, Targu – Neamt and Pipirig, County Council of Targu – Neamt, National Literary Museum in Iasi, etc.

Ion Creanga was born on 01 March 1837 in Humulesti, Romania. Recognised by the craftsmanship of fairy tales, legends and stories, Ion Creanga is considered to be one of the classics of Romanian literature, especially because of his autobiographical work: Amintiri din copilarie (The memories from childhood). He died on 31 December 1889. Ion Creanga was buried on 02 January 1890 at Cemetery Eternitatea in Iasi.
