Chisinau, 1 April /MOLDPRES/ - Tennis player Radu Albot has been awarded the Diplomatic Merit medal for special merits in the promotion of Moldova’s image, as well as civic activism in the education of the young generation. Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Tudor Ulianovschi handed the distinction to the sportsman at a festive ceremony today, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.

Minister Tudor Ulianovschi stressed that, by his successful performance at diverse tournaments of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), Radu Albot had contributed to the promotion of Moldova’s image in the world, thus becoming an ambassador of the country. “Namely this exceptional performance, as well as his civic activism, especially in relation with children, whom he offers his experience each time when coming home, has prompted us to award him the distinction of the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry - the medal Diplomatic Merit,” the Moldovan diplomacy head noted.

Minister Tudor Ulianovschi also said that the progress like the one of Radu Albot in sport, as well as the success in other fields of the social and economic life help us, day by day, to make Moldova nicer and more attractive.

For his part, Radu Albot said that he was honoured to receive this distinction and the sportsman thanked Minister Tudor Ulianovschi for invitation and possibility to meet the MAEIE’s staff. “I will always represent Moldova and will endeavour for our country to be known in the world as much as possible,” Radu Albot added.
