More taxi drivers of Moldova imposed fines following operation carried out by police

Chisinau, 28 May /MOLDPRES/ - The employees of the transport supervision and road traffic section of the Chisinau Police Department during ten days checked the providers of taxi services from Moldova’s capital, in order to assess the technical state of the transport units. Twenty eight official reports were compiled and seven registration plates were taken off after controls.    

According to the police, the verifications took place within a special operation titled, TAXI. The actions of the policemen were aimed at preventing traffic accidents, observing the rules of road traffic, exploitation of transport units and the lawfulness of the acts owned by drivers for their transport units.

In the context, during the operation, 128 taxi drivers were verified; their compulsory acts for driving the transport units were controlled, especially the certificates of professional competence, vehicle’s technical state, as well as the obligatory presence of the needed equipment.  

Following verifications, policemen discovered 34 infringements in exploiting cars, such as: technical defects in the braking system or in the steering device, in the devices of illumination of signaling; transport units re-equipped without needed authorization, lack of medical pouches and fire extinguishers, as well as invalid certificates of professional competence. Thus, 28 official reports were compiled on contraventions, seven registration plates were taken off and files worth up to 600 lei were imposed.    

At the same time, four managers were sanctioned, with fines amounting to 3,000 lei for allowing to traffic transport units which do not fit the exploitation norms.
