Chisinau, 6 June /MOLDPRES/ - The long-term investments in assets increased in the first quarter of 2019 against the same period of the last year, much above the level forecast by authorities and experts, who expect an up to 5-per cent growth this year. Up to 3.3 billion lei was invested in buildings, residential and non-residential, machines and equipment, transport. The main factors which determined an enhancement of the investment activity were the increase in private and budgetary investments, friendly crediting situation, as well as the growth of investments from sources of international organizations.

„The results prove that the reforms implemented by the government have every premise for the development of a friendly business and competitive environment for investments. I am glad to ascertain that the investments volume has considerably increased, with the major impact provided by the growth of investments in machines, equipment and installations, which confirms the present tendency of re-organization of the national economy,” Economics and Infrastructure Minister Chiril Gaburici said.

Data by the economic policies and business environment directorate at the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry shows that the private investments proved to be the principal engine of investments’ increase on the whole in the first quarter of 2019. The investments amounted to 2.3 billion lei (70 per cent of all investments) and grew by 15 per cent in January-March 2019, providing 46 per cent of the overall growth. Economic agents oriented their investments in machines and equipment, transport means, residential buildings and grounds.

The public investments also increased on average 2.1-fold, providing 31 per cent of the investments’ overall increase. These investments amounted to 387.9 million lei. The public investments were oriented to engineering constructions, machines and equipment, as well as transport means.

The analysis of data according to types of assets shows that the investments in machines, production installations and equipment contributed most of all to the increase in investments recorded in the first three months of 2019 (35 per cent of the growth). These investments amounted to 1.2 billion lei and grew by 23 per cent.

The investments in transport means have grown essentially. They stood at 480.1 million lei and increased by 45.6 per cent. Also, the investments in the constructions sector (engineering constructions, residential buildings and non-residential buildings) grew by 17.8 per cent, amounting to 1.3 billion lei.

The increase in immobilized assets shows that business people have confidence that, in the long run, the things will go well, there will be stability and there is no risk for them to lose the money invested, more experts said.
