Cabinet allocates five million lei to remove consequences of bad weather in south Moldova district

Chisinau, 09 July /MOLDPRES/ – The Government has allocated MDL 5.3 million to compensate for damages caused by the natural calamities in Basarabeasca district. The decision has been announced on Tuesday, 09 July, by Prime Minister, Maia Sandu, after the meeting of the Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE).

Also, the Commission has decided to allocate MDL 389,000 for reimbursement of expenses incurred by several public institutions during the works for fortification of protection dam near Crocmaz locality in Stefan Voda district.

Additionally, an amount of MDL 99,000 was earmarked for purchasing food for families in Otaci who lost their dwellings.

According to PM, an expert committee has assessed the cost of dwellings destroyed at Otaci, and they are currently discussing with their tenants. "There is an issue, because in meantime the market prices have increased. Someone is trying to take advantage of the misfortune of people, and when it is heard that the state will compensate for expenses of the ones which have lost their flats, the market price has increased substantially. In a few days we shall have more precise figures," said Maia Sandu.

Until now, the Commission has determined that the price of a two – room flat is MDL 212,000, and three – room one – MDL 277,000.

At present, the specialists are making the expertise of IInd block in Otaci. It will be completed in almost half a month.

A staircase of a 09 – floor block – of – flats in Otaci city, Ocnita district, collapsed on the evening of Wednesday, 19 June. The rescuers were able to evacuate the inhabitants a few hours before the incident.
