World Bank to provide 61 million euros for inter-connection of electric energy networks between Moldova and Romania

Chisinau, 17 July /MOLDPRES/ - The World Bank (WB) will provide 61 million euros for the interconnection of the electric energy networks between Moldova and Romania. Economics and Infrastructure Minister Vadim Branzan and WB experts led by World Bank Country Manager for Moldova Anna Akhalkatsi discussed the signing of an agreement to this effect at a meeting today.   

Under the financing agreement, the money will be used for the extension of the station from Vulcanesti, south Moldova, modernization of the Chisinau-based station and construction of the Vulcanesti-Chisinau overhead power line of 40 KV.    

Minister Vadim Branzan said that “the system of electric energy’s transport will be optimized with the implementation of this project and thus, the citizens will be supplied with high quality services.”   

At the meeting, the officials also discussed aspects of implementation of the Centralized Heating System Project (SACET). In this respect, the sides tackled the next steps of carrying out of an action plan for optimizing the SACET regulation and ways of public institutions’ reconnection to SACET, such as hospitals, kindergartens, including the reconnection of the new private heating sub-stations and related thermal networks.   

The World Bank’s representatives reiterated willingness to continue the development of the projects, so that the Moldovan citizens enjoy modern, qualitative and certainly, cheap services.
