Chisinau, 29 August /MOLDPRES/- The Border Police and Customs Service received today six vehicles from the European Union Border Assistance Mission in Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM).

The cars that were previously used by EUBAM are able to operate in all terrain conditions, which will contribute to enhancing the capacity of both services to carry out operations across the entire border.

Border Police Chief Rosian Vasiloi said this is not the first donation from EUBAM Mission partners. "It is a huge support for our intervention activities both at the green border and at the crossing points. I hope that the government will come in the near future with special technical procurement to ensure the security of specific sectors of the state border, ” Vasiloi said.

Acting director of the Customs Service Iurie Ceban said that the donation is a confirmation of the good cooperation of the Moldovan state institutions with EUBAM. The new means of transport will contribute to increasing the operational capacity of the customs institution, including in the anti-fraud sector.

Attending the event was also EUBAM head Slawomir Pichor.

EUBAM has previously offered the Republic of Moldova lots of equipment and cars.
