Chisinau, 18 September /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) approved a regulation on the financing of the electoral contenders’ electoral campaigns at a meeting on 17 September. The document sets the conditions and the way of financial support of the electoral campaigns, as well as the procedure of presentation of the reports on their incomes and expenses.

The regulation is applied in the case of financing of electoral campaigns of electoral contenders in parliamentary, presidential and local polls, as well as to the participants in the referendum of any level. It exhaustively regulates the legal relations as regards the conditions, way, restrictions, as well as the reporting of the electoral campaigns’ financing.

CEC Secretary Maxim Lebedinschi has said that the provisions of the regulation on the financing of electoral campaigns, approved by CEC in May 2015, would be enforced for the new parliamentary elections, till the expiration of the mandate of the parliament of the tenth legislative period, including the elections due on 20 October 2019.

CEC head Dorin Cimil said that CEC member Sergiu Gurduza suggested working out and submitting a letter to the competent parliamentary commission on the explaining of the way the norms regarding the financing reporting are enforced. “I will support the concerned draft, on grounds that it is a consensus of the discussions which took place within the Commission and the notification due to come from parliament will show the vector of development of the regulation of  parties’ financing,” Cimil added.
