National Anticorruption Centre of Moldova detain 12 persons, including inspectors of National Motor Transport Agency

Chisinau, 23 September /MOLDPRES/ - Officers of the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA) today detained twelve people, among whom inspectors of the National Motor Transport Agency (ANTA) and representatives of a company specialized in passenger transport. The detained persons are suspected on passive corruption and influence peddling.

According to CNA data, the Centre’s officers have been documenting the suspects’ actions during several months. Thus, law-enforcers found out that ANTA inspectors were claiming sums varying between 1,000 and 9,000 lei from economic agents, in order not to impose sanctions against them for infringes discovered.

To strengthen the evidence, today, more groups of anticorruption officers and prosecutors made searches at the homes, offices and vehicles of the suspects. Subsequently, the latter were escorted to the CNA headquarters for hearings and were detained for 72 hours.
