Chisinau, 25 September /MOLDPRES/ – The Cabinet of Ministers has approved, on Wednesday, 25 September, the redistribution of means of road fund (FR) for the repair and maintenance of public roads (DP). Thus, the amount allocated for the maintenance of roads (filling of pits, profiling of carriageway with added material, maintenance of groundworks and water drainage systems, etc.) has been supplemented by MDL 114 mln.

According to the project authors, following the finding of premature deterioration of the state of roads, there has occurred the need to increase the volume of financial means destined for the works for the maintenance of roads. The Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure (MEI) specifies that by the end of 2019, there are expected financial means in the amount of MDL 322 mln to be used for routine repair and maintenance of DP.

For the maintenance and repair of the national public roads (DPN) with a length of 5,857 km and their engineering constructions, it was allocated the sum of MDL 1,024 mln, according to the Programme for distribution of means of FR for the national roads (DN) for 2019.

The Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Vadim Brinzan, has said that programme  Drumuri Bune (Good Roads) will not be modified in 2019, but it will be instituted a monitoring of the progress of works and their quality.

PM Maia Sandu has said that "the ex – Government has decided to allocate this money for certain localities, other localities have been disadvantaged, received less money or have not received at all. We cannot cancel the auction, because the contracts were signed with 11 companies, but we have tried to redistribute the money in the contracts with these companies”. The Prime Minister has also announced that, in 2020, it will be another mechanism by which money will be distributed to the local public administration (APL), according to a clear formula, which will be agreed with APL and take into account "the number of inhabitants, state of roads and not political colour”.

The PM has asked MEI to supervise the quality of road repair by each operator. "We shall increase investments in road repairs and we want to know who are the operators which make quality repairs and which are the operators that should be included in the black list," said Maia Sandu.
