Moldova Agricultural Competitiveness Project informs about last grants appeal

Chisinau, 17 October /MOLDPRES/ - The World Bank’s Moldova Agricultural Competitiveness Project (MAC-P) has informed about the opening of the last appeal within the investment grants programme, in order to facilitate the access to sales markets, meant for producers’ groups. The files will be submitted to the territorial offices of the Agency of Intervention and Payments for Agriculture (AIPA) on the period 16 October 2019 – 28 February 2020.      

The grants will be provided to groups of producers made up at least five members, who work in the horticultural sector. The financing will be aimed at buying technological equipment and post-harvest equipment (lines of assortment, washing, calibration, packing, drying room, refrigerating equipment, etc.).  

At the same time, groups of producers from the zoo-technical sector, especially those specialized in the production of natural honey or milk, can benefit from grant too. The maximal value of one grant is of 350,000 dollars.

The MAC-P project was launched in 2012, in order to provide farmers with logistic and financial support, to strengthen the capacities of sustainable management of farmlands, process and pack agricultural products and facilitate the access to market. At the same time, the project sees modernization of the system of management of food safety. This year, the Moldova Agricultural Competitiveness Project was extended till 30 June 2021.   

Since the beginning of the project, backed by the World Bank, government of Sweden and the Global Environment Fund, 56 groups of producers have been registered in Moldova. Grant resources worth about 9.2 million dollars were disbursed to 34 groups of producers within the programme of investment grants meant for groups of producers. Another at least five groups of producers are to benefit from financing during 2019. The maximal value of one grant is of 350,000 dollars. Most groups of produces associated to produce fruits, two groups – to cultivate vegetables and one group produces peanuts and almonds.
