Chisinau, 1 November /MOLDPRES/- The Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) will provide Moldova with a loan worth 10 million euros to build a new prison in Chisinau.
This is provided in an Amendment to the Loan Framework Agreement between Moldova and CEB for the Prison Construction Project in Chisinau. The government approved at today's meeting the decision to start negotiations and approve signing the amendment.
The increase of the loan amount was necessary as in drafting of the penitentiary draft, estimative calculations were made, not focused on concrete volumes of works, which caused further expenditure growth. Another factor that caused the increase of the expenses is the annual increase of the inflation rate, in 2013- 2018, on average by 5.9%.
Minister of Justice Olesea Stamate said at the cabinet meeting that the construction work would be launched early next year and it could take about three years.
On 10 October 2013, the Republic of Moldova and CEB signed a 39 million euro- loan agreement, money to be used to build a new prison.
