Chisinau, 1 November /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament’s commission for economy, budget and finances today held public hearings on ensuring Moldova’s energy security, including the present situation of the electric inter-connections.
Attending the hearings were representatives of the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry (MEI), Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry, National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE), Moldelectrica enterprise and more experts.
„We want today to consider the way Moldova is preparing for having alternatives in the sector of supply with electric energy, from the viewpoint of the sustainability of our commitments and obligations. The Commission’s commitment is to do its utmost for the things to be accelerated and the contracts signed start working, avoiding eventual obstacles, which can block our way towards the creation of sustainable alternatives,” the head of the parliament’s commission for economy, budget and finances, Igor Munteanu, said.
Attending the hearings, Economics and Infrastructure Minister Vadim Brinzan said that “in general, Moldova is prepared for the cold period of the year and the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry has undertaken all needed measures to ensure the country’s electric energy security.”
The director of the consolidated unit for the implementation and monitoring of projects in the energy sector, Aurelia Samson, said that, for the moment, there were no procrastinations in the implementation of energy projects. “The construction of the back-to-back station from Vulcanesti is to be launched only after we have the tender documents prepared. Subsequently, we will need 8-12 months to select the company due to build the station. So, in reality, the construction of this station will not be carried out earlier than by 2022, with a two-year construction period,” Samson said.
As for the construction of an overhead power line from Vulcanesti to Chisinau, the tender might start in next May and its construction will last two years.
