Chisinau, 15 November /MOLDPRES/ - Head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office Viorel Morari has sent a letter to the parliament’s leadership, thereby demanding increase in the number of prosecutors at the institution, given the big volume of work.

In his letter, Viorel Morari asked for the increase in the number of prosecutors from 720 to 750 units and of the auxiliary staff from 700 to 750 units. The demand is reasoned through the fact that “the volume of work of the prosecutors from Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office has grown a lot, above the estimations made on the period when the number of personnel of the Prosecutor’s Office was approved.”

„In the present conditions, the overloading of prosecutors does not allow undertaking all measures provided for by the law for full and objective investigation, under all aspects, of causes’ circumstances, as well as ensuring the carrying out of the criminal prosecution in a reasonable term and thus, administrative measures are needed to solve this issue,” the Anticorruption  Prosecutor’s Office said.

Moreover, the institution says that, in case of a big labour volume, “there is the danger of committing mistakes in carrying out investigations, as well as impossibility to carry out criminal prosecution actions concomitantly on all criminal files managed.”
