Social assistance, allowances, pensions, salaries of state employees to be increased

Chisinau, 18 November /MOLDPRES/- A joint working meeting between President Igor Dodon, Speaker Zinaida Greceanii and Prime Minister Ion Chicu was held in the morning. During the meeting, the three officials agreed agenda of events for the following week and set out seven social measures that need to be implemented immediately, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

1. Provide financial support for winter holidays worth 700 lei for 625 thousand pensioners.

2. Amend the legislation so that the indexation of pensions is done twice a year.

3. Increase the amount for the cold season from 350 to 500 lei per month and increase the number of beneficiaries.

4. Guarantee the pension for a term of at least 5 years, even in the case of the premature death of the beneficiary.

5. Increasing veterans' allowances from 100 to 300 lei for about 20 thousand people.

6. Increase the allowances for young specialists in medicine and pharmaceuticals from 45 thousand to 120 thousand lei, if they choose to go to practice in rural areas.

7. Higher wages for state employees starting from 2020, on average by 10%. Teachers and educators will get a higher salary by about 18%, and social workers about 16%. All employees will get an annual prize equivalent to 50% of the monthly salary.

"Now, in winter, we have a lot of work to do. We will do our best to make our decisions the ones that citizens expect ”, Dodon said.

Greceanii assured that the institution will approve soon important social projects.

"We are at the end of the year, time is pressing. This is why we will support in the Parliament all social initiatives that are in the interest of citizens, after which we will send to the Government the projects to identify the resources to implement them successfully”, Greceanîi said.

Chicu said that it is working to promote the budgetary projects and other laws of national importance. "The following week we have a busy agenda, which includes high-level meetings, government meetings, trips abroad and participation in international events of major importance," Chicu said.

Meetings between the President and the leadership of the Parliament and the Government will be held every Monday.
