Jewish community in Moldova marks 30 years from foundation

Chisinau, 25 November /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister, Ion Chicu, participated, on Sunday, 24 November, in the event marking 30 years of the Jewish community in Moldova. PM expressed sincere congratulations on this occasion and appreciated the role of the culture promoted by Jewish community in Moldova throughout history, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
"The Government's priority goal is to improve the standard of living of all citizens, including the protection of the values and culture of ethnic minorities in Moldova. The Government will continue the projects initiated to support the Jewish community in Moldova and promote the historical and cultural values of this people”, stated Ion Chicu.
In particular, the Government will support the initiative to open in Moldova a museum of Jewish community history, development of Jewish cultural centres, as well as rehabilitation of Jewish cemeteries in Chisinau.
The Premier also said that the interaction of state structures with all ethnocultural organisations in Moldova, including with Jewish community, will serve as an impetus in protecting and strengthening the rule of law, freedom and democracy, which are a priority today. "Our duty is to build a society capable of giving all our fellow citizens in the future a sense of security and complete freedom," said PM.
