Chisinau, 28 November /MOLDPRES/ - Thirty five jobs have been created in the southern Cahul county in the last seven months; over 230 inactive young people were identified and registered as unemployed to benefit from assistance, 115 young people were trained to develop business and access grants. Also, a cooperative of apiarian production was founded, a brand for the Cahul honey was created and eight popular craftsmen were formalized. These are just some of the results of the Local Partnership of Labour Force Employment (LEP) from Cahul.

The partnership was launched as a pilot project, at an initiative and with the assistance of the International Labour Organization, in order to create new jobs and formalize the current ones. In the Cahul district, LEP was conceived according to a European model and was enforced under the aegis of the territorial commission for collective consultations and negotiations (CTCNC). This platform of social dialogue brings together over 20 public and private partners, among which local public authorities, trade unions, the territorial subdivision for labour force employment, non-governmental organizations, micro-crediting and education institutions, local producers’ associations, enterprises and investors from the Cahul district.

„One of the most important results is the fact that, due to the Local Partnership of Labour Force Employment, all key actors joined efforts to cope with the challenges on the labour market and ensure the region’s sustainable development. LEP proved to be an efficient instrument and will continue implementing it to create more jobs and new opportunities of doing business, especially for young people. Or, the Cahul district is the third one from the country according to the number of residents, but with the highest rate of inactive young persons,” the former head of CNCNC, Vlad Casuneanu, said at a conference on presenting the intermediary results of the partnership, held today.

Attending the event, the head of the association of bee-keepers from the Cahul district, Sergiu Pislaru, said that the Prut Meadow had a very good honey-bearing basis and allows the five-fold increase in the number of bee gardens. He considers that all the 30 young people, who benefited from training and practical education in the apicultural sector within LEP, have every chances to access grants and develop a profitable business in apiculture.

The Local Employment Partnership provides for eight intervention actions, due to be carried out till April 2020 and will contribute to the creation and formalization of about 265 jobs and the launch of over 110 businesses in apiculture, creative industries and handicraft. The overall cost of LEP is of de 40, 771 dollars, of which183, 912 dollars represents the contribution on behalf of the International Labour Organization and 15,400 dollars – from local actors. Also, the Organization for the Small and Medium Enterprises Sector Development will contribute 204,459 dollars, through schemes of grants, for developing business and creation of enterprises by disadvantaged young people.
