CSM meeting postponed due to lack of quorum

Chisinau, 3 December /MOLDPRES/- The meeting of the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM), scheduled for this morning was postponed due to lack of quorum. 32 topics were set out on the agenda of the meeting.

The meeting was attended by only seven members of the CSM, including new Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo. They were going to discuss issues related to the transfer of judges and the request for the resignation of judge Xenofon Ulianovschi from the Chisinau Court of Appeal. Also, the CSM members were going to hear the internal audit report of the Agency for Administration of Courts.

The CSM agenda included the petition of Justice Ministry on approval of the draft law amending certain laws (Civil Code, Family Code and Law on civil status documents).

On 27 September 2019, over 200 magistrates convened in the General Assembly of Judges and decided to revoke the CSM panel. Then, 164 out of 202 magistrates voted for the dismissal of the interim president of CSM, Dorel Musteață. Victor Micu was dismissed by 118 votes, Anatolie Galben - 162 votes, Luiza Gafton, Petru Moraru and Nina Cernat were dismissed by 167 votes, and alternate member Anatolie Pahapol was dismissed by 155 votes.
