More NGOs of Moldova to benefit from grants to develop sustainable communities

Chisinau, 20 December /MOLDPRES/ - About 30 non-governmental organizations of various Moldova’s regions will benefit from support through a programme on local grants, launched by the Association for Efficient and Responsible Governance (AGER), in partnership with the public association HABITAT, within a project titled, Be the Change: Involved Citizens – Sustainable Communities. The programme is launched based on the Single Support Framework for the EU Support for Moldova.  

The goal of the project is to stimulate the involvement of civil society’s organizations in decision-making processes, including in the governance of public investments projects in the following sectors: water and sewerage supply, solid waste management, energy efficiency, environment problems related to local services, which will lead to the enhancement of transparency and making the public authorities more responsible.

Grants will be provided to about 30 NGOs within the project, aimed at stimulating the active participation of the public authority in the decision-taking process locally and regionally, as well as at promoting ideas on the sustainable development of local communities. The local-level initiative groups are encouraged to submit the file in partnership with the organizations registered.  

The Association for Efficient and Responsible Governance (AGER) and the public association HABITAT organize five one-day training sessions, in order to prepare project proposals within the local grants programme. The session are scheduled for the following days: 23 and 25 December – in Chisinau, 27 December – in Ungheni, 4 January 2020 – in Rezina, and they will return to Moldova’s capital on 10 January. 

The local grants programme within the project, Be the Change: Involved Citizens – Sustainable Communities, is launched based on the Single Support Framework for the EU Support for Moldova in 2017-2020, within the European Neighbourhood Instrument, through the project, Citizens empowerment in Moldova, (2019-2021), financed by EU and implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation.
