Moldovan president meets head of Moldovagaz company's administrative board

Chisinau, 14 January /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon today had a meeting with the head of the Administrative Board of the Moldovagaz stock company, Vadim Ceban.  

According to the presidential press service, the sides discussed more subjects, such as: the results of the activity in 2019, including the recent signing of the contract with the Public Joint Stock Company Gazprom and of the agreements on interconnection with the operator from Ukraine, the plans for 2020, preparation of the alternative reverse gas route on the Trans-Balkan corridor of supply with gas of Moldova’s consumers.   

Touching upon the plans for this year, Vadim Ceban said that, among the major goals, there is the starting of the process of reorganization of the enterprises from the system. Decision-makers plan to create a single gas distribution enterprise based on those 12 existing ones. Measures will be undertaken to ensure the independence of the gas transport operators, according to the provisions of the law on natural gas. Changes will be carried out within the Moldovagaz stock company as regards the supply of natural gas and optimizing the enterprise’s work.   

The head of state welcomed the fact that, despite all obstacles dealing with the issue of transit of gas through Ukraine, as well as numerous speculations that Moldova will not have gas this year, all measures have been taken and all risks were minimized, so that the country is provided with natural gas in the long run.

At the same time, Igor Dodon said that it was important that the tariffs for the end consumers not to be increased and if possible, sources should be identified to decrease these tariffs.
