Chisinau, 29 January /MOLDPRES/- The appeal of powers of the Moldovan delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has been rejected as unfounded, and the powers of our delegation were ratified by a majority vote of the members of the Committee on Rules of Procedure, Immunities and Institutional Affairs of PACE, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

Deputy speaker Vlad Batrincea reconfirmed the fair representation in the delegation of all political forces represented in parliament. The faction of the Shor Party has a delegation mandate in PACE, according to the parliament's decision. At the same time, this faction, which tried to challenge the powers of the parliamentary delegation refused to nominate a member of the delegation. According to Vlad Bătrîncea, this was done deliberately to manipulate international public opinion.

Egidijus Vareikis, MP from Lithuania, PACE co-rapporteur for Moldova, supported ratification of the delegation's powers, without a report on the matter. This proposal was supported by the delegates of the national parliaments to the PACE. Nicole Trisse, a French MP, noted that PACE does not operate with specific names, as such a practice is contrary to the rules of the organization.

The members of the Committee on Rules of Procedure, Immunities and Institutional Affairs were unanimous to observance of the PACE Regulation by the Moldovan parliament.
