Moldovan cabinet approves action plan on road traffic safety for 2020-2021

Chisinau, 29 January /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet members, at a today’s meeting, approved an action plan on the road traffic safety for 2020-2021. The plan sees more actions scheduled for the concerned period, aimed at improving the situation in the national road traffic.    

Under the government’s decision, a communication platform in the road traffic safety sector will be nationally created, of the elaboration of which the central and local authorities, academic environment and non-governmental organizations will be in charge.  

The plan also sees improvement of the system of integrated management of the actions of the specialized intervention institutions in case of traffic accidents, such as: improvement of endowing the emergency services with special vehicles for extrication, ambulances; adoption of the Maximum Abbreviated Injury Scale (MAIS), etc.   

At the same time, the plan includes measures for the working out and implementation of pilot projects on the arrangement of lanes for pedestrians and bicyclists; identification, research and rehabilitation of segments with high risk of occurring of traffic accidents with the involvement of bicyclists, drivers of scooters, pedestrians, including children; evaluation of the work of drivers, including experienced ones, as well as of driving training centres, etc.    

The spending for the implementation of the aforementioned action plan will be borne from the annual budget, as well as from other sources, under the legislation. The Economics and Infrastructure Ministry will be in charge of the control over the decision’s fulfillment.
