Moldovan PM attends Digital Future of Global Economy Forum in Alma-Ata

Chisinau, 31 January /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Ion Chicu participated in Digital Future of Global Economy Forum in Alma-Ata, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

Participants in the event discussed prospects and effects of development of the digitization process and construction of the interaction between elements of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data, importance of creating information infrastructure and promoting technologies, as well as addressing gaps and problems in the area.

Attending the event were Heads of Governments of Belarus, Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation, Deputy Prime Ministers of Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, officials from the UN and UNICEF, as well as management representatives of over 50 companies, including Amazon and Qwasar Silicon Valley.

The event’s agenda included four panels dedicated to the digital development of the members of the Eurasian Economic Union, the development and promotion of IT sector in Kazakhstan Digital program, as well as the current digital education techniques for sustainable development.

In their speeches, the officials approached levels that have been successful to determine progress, including billing and tax records, processing medical operations, automating public services and others.

In his speech, Chicu pointed out the Moldovan government’s intention to digitize public services in order to simplify access and eliminate corruption. The development and application of artificial intelligence elements in parallel with increasing digital databases will assist the decision-making process and will make it more efficient, fast and safe.

"We have a dynamic growth in information technology and software development. A two-fold increase in the last three years. The export of IT products and services has exceeded traditional export areas, which has also grown. We have well-developed information networks and well-trained specialists who speak several languages. We have IT parks that enjoy a very easy regime and we invite the investors to Moldova ”, he said.

The forum also included an exhibition of IT solutions developed on the platform of global giants and StartUp projects in Kazakhstan. The exhibition ended with Digital Alma-Ata Awards in 5 categories.
