PM of Armenia to visit Moldova

Chisinau, 31 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu had a meeting with Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan in Almaty today.  

According to the government’s communication and protocol department, PM Chicu welcomed his counterpart and referred to the reserves existing in the boosting of the bilateral cooperation between Moldova and Armenia on the economic, social and cultural dimensions.

The officials highlighted the existence of the potential which has not been turned to account in the bilateral collaboration and backed the need to foster actions to this end.  

PM Chicu informed about the government’s priorities for 2020 and the massive public investments in the development of infrastructure all over Moldova, in order to industrialize the country, create jobs and enhance the living standards. In the context, the prime minister described the opportunities opened by the Free Economic Zones for the producers oriented to export to the EU market, as well as other markets with about 900 million consumers in all.

The officials stressed the necessity to intensify the work of the Moldovan-Armenian intergovernmental commission and discussed possibility of holding a forum of business people, which would help identify opportunities of increasing the trade between the states.

The sides agreed to organize the meeting of the commission in the near future, so that it precedes the visit to Chisinau by the Armenian prime minister. The commission will prepare the agenda of Pashinyan’s visit to Chisinau.  

Ion Chicu noted that Moldova had submitted an application to become member of the Eurasian Development Bank and asked his Armenian counterpart to back the request.     

In the end of the discussion, PM Pashinyan invited Ion Chicu to visit Armenia.
