Moldovan president participates in weekly meeting with country's leadership

Chisinau, 10 February /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon today participated in a weekly meeting held jointly with Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii and Prime Minister Ion Chicu, the presidential press service has reported.   

The officials set the main goals on the agenda of each of them for this week. Thus, the sides noted four important initiatives in the social sector, due to be launched as presidential initiatives on the days to come.   

The first subject deals with the diminution of the fiscal burden from the Moldovan citizens as a result of the “one-billion-dollar theft.” The presidential institution launched an initiative to this effect in late 2019, and at present, initiatives have been identified, which will cut the burden by 5-6 billion lei (25-30 per cent). In the context, Igor Dodon noted that one of the concerned mechanisms was dealing with the transfer of 50 per cent from the profit of the National Bank of Moldova to the state budget.

The second initiative regards the criteria of eligibility of the mechanism of providing the material assistance, which should be revised in order to be fair.

The third subject tackled concerns the pensions’ indexation as of 1 October. All pensioners of Moldova must benefit from this indexation, no matter the pension’s value. At the same time, the head of state suggested that the material aid worth 700 lei, on the occasion of the winter holidays or other significant holidays, should be included as law provision.  

The fourth initiative regards the creation of the Republican Policlinic in the building of the Republican Clinical Hospital, just as it was earlier, till 2013-2014.   

In the end of the meeting, the sides discussed the agenda of the parliament and government, which are to elaborate and approve the aforementioned initiatives.
