Moldovan parliament makes amendments to law on regime of state of emergency, of siege and war

Chisinau, 17 March /MOLDPRES/ - The MPs today voted, in two readings, amendments to the draft law on the regime of state of emergency, of siege and war, which provides more powers to the Commission for Emergency Situations and establishes that elections cannot be organized during the state of emergency.
Under the new amendments, during the state of emergency, of siege and war, the parliament will be able to adopt organic laws, which has been banned so far. The new provision will allow the parliament checking the work of the Commission for Emergency Situations.
Also following the amendments made, the Commission’s powers have been extended and its members will be able to adopt decisions which are not strictly stipulated in this law. Also today, the lawmakers withdrew also the amendment which was allowing the holding of elections during the states of emergency.
Today, Prime Minister Ion Chicu came in parliament to demand the establishment of the state of emergency in Moldova.
