SIS blocked activity of 52 sites for false information about COVID-19

Chisinau, 20 March /MOLDPRES/- In the context of parliament's declaration of state of emergency, the Intelligence and Security Service announced today that it has blocked the activity of 52 sites that distribute false information about COVID-19.

According to the press service of the SIS, it was stated that the anonymous administrators of these fake-news sites are interested in designing subversive activities in information space, capable during the crisis period to affect the information security of the Republic of Moldova with challenge of social hatred, mass disorder and undermining the security of the country.

Thus, SIS has ordered several enforcement measures to remove the causes and conditions that contribute to carrying out threats to state security.

Thus, SIS has announced that it will make the list of fake news sites available to internet providers so that they can be blocked during the emergency. Also, the Agency for Regulation in Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) will monitor the implementation of the order.
