World Health Organization, UN Development Programme, Switzerland provide Moldova with support to prevent, control COVID-19

Chisinau, 1 May /MOLDPRES/ - The World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Switzerland have provided support for the prevention and control of the spread of the new coronavirus on both banks of Dniester.
Switzerland’s assistance, worth over 580,000 dollars, will help Moldova in its fight against the epidemic. Ten mobile artificial ventilation apparatus, meant for intensive therapy units, will be delivered to the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS). The equipment was bought by UNDP Moldova from funds provided by Switzerland.
At the same time, WHO provides technical support to MSMPS and the National Public Health Agency, to coordinate and monitor the actions of response to COVID-19. Competent people strengthen the capacities of the primary medical assistance institutions and the ones for the care of mother and child from both banks of Dniester in actions for the prevention and control of the epidemic.
„Switzerland, WHO and UNDP have provided Moldova with support from the very first day of the outbreak of the infection, through expertise, recommendations and financial assistance. We are confident that we will together overcome the challenges of this difficult period,’’ Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu said.
