Moldovan, Polish foreign affairs ministers discuss cooperation within Eastern Partnership

Chisinau, 7 May /MOLDPRES/ - Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Oleg Tulea today had a phone conversation with his Polish counterpart Jacek Czaputowicz, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s press service has reported.  

The Moldovan diplomacy head thanked for the receptiveness and openness proved by Poland’s authorities in the process of repatriation of Moldovan citizens, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Oleg Tulea highly appreciated the prompt reaction of Poland to Moldova’s request to provide assistance in the fight with the coronavirus infection. The donation of medical equipment to hospitals from Moldova and the support provided to public medical and sanitary institutions represents an act of solidarity in joint efforts of combating the effects of the pandemic.    

A key subject of the discussions represented the cooperation within the Eastern Partnership. The sides agreed on the need to give an ambitious character to the new goals due to be set this year, including on the occasion of the Eastern Partnership’s Summit. Minister Tulea reiterated, in this context, the priority attached by Moldova to the European integration and implicitly, to EaP, which facilitates the achievement of this strategic objective through the initiatives they promote.    

The discussion between the two officials was focused on identifying opportunities of cooperation for the development of the Moldovan-Polish partnership. The sides highlighted the ascendant character of the bilateral relations and the mutual will to boost them. The discussion pointed out the excellent stage of the economic cooperation, with the sides evoking, in this respect, the increasing bilateral trade exchanges and Poland’s position in the top of Moldova’s investors. The ministers agreed that the economic and commercial relations between the two countries had an important role and reiterated interest to fully foster these ties in more sectors.
